Through a joint strategic planning process, the DHC and the DuPage Federation on Human Services Reform developed the DuPage Safety Net Plan for Health and Human Services 2016-2018.

Since 2009, FORWARD's goal has been to reduce obesity rates and prevent the chronic diseases associated with obesity. The FORWARD Coalition empowers community leaders and stakeholders to help create sustainable policy, system, and environmental changes to improve healthy eating and active living opportunities for residents.

Impact Objective 1.2: By June 30, 2020, 100 DuPage County childcare providers will complete training to create healthier environments and improve the sleep, nutrition and physical activity practices for the families they serve.
Impact Objective 1.3: By June 30, 2020, provide technical assistance to 20 DuPage County childcare providers to implement the Go NAP SACC! online self-assessment.
Impact Objective 1.4: By June 30, 2019, train the ROE’s Parents as Teachers home-visiting program staff, who serve 160 high-risk families with children ages 0-3, on tools to improve nutrition and physical activity.
Impact Objective 1.5: By June 30, 2021, train 80% of DuPage County’s home visiting staff (approx.. 65 staff members, serving 2,394 children) on childhood obesity and the impact of nutrition, physical activity and sleep on behavior and weight.
Impact Objective 1.6: By June 30, 2021, families will be provided in-depth technical support on nutrition and healthy eating, physical activity, screen time and sleep through 6 FORWARD-led educational/engagement workshops.
Impact Objective 1.7: By June 30, 2021, conduct online nutrition education to WIC families through videos and online activities in partnership with Benedictine University, DCHD and Northern Illinois Foodbank.
Impact Objective 1.8: By June 30, 2021, conduct county-wide educational opportunities to train 150 healthcare providers on best practices related to obesity, sleep, nutrition, and physical activity.
Impact Objective 1.9: By June 30, 2021, provide technical support to 20 medical practices on evidence-based tools and resources.
Impact Objective 1.10: By June 30, 2021, conduct half-day group training to food service personnel from 50 DuPage County schools to increase the number of schools regularly purchasing and preparing healthy, fresh fruits and vegetables and other food items from area farms in Illinois and the Midwest.
Impact Objective 1.11: By June 30, 2021, provide technical support to 20 food service personnel to increase procurement and preparation of healthy, fresh fruits and vegetables and other food items in Illinois and the Midwest.
Impact Objective 1.12: By June 30, 2021, 34 elementary schools in DuPage County will receive technical assistance, create or expand school wellness committees, complete the nutrition and physical activity assessments of the School Health Index (SHI), develop an action plan and implement changes to address opportunities identified.
Impact Objective 1.13: During Every Kid Healthy Week annually in April, 12 elementary schools will host community wellness celebrations showcasing efforts and engaging parents and community leaders.
Impact Objective 1.14: By June 30, 2020, engage 1,000 school aged children and families in healthy nutrition and physical activity through a Health and Wellness Expo and a Ninja Warrior obstacle Course.
Impact Objective 1.15: By June 30, 2021, provide education, tools, and resources to 1,000 parents, students, teachers and administrators to embed health and wellness options into social emotional learning concepts.
